A tramway project for Creil Sud Oise

At a time when the railways were booming, a Tramway project was created in 1900 to linking Creil, Nogent-sur-Oise and Montataire.

The benefits of the railway in Creil

The Creillois Basin owes a great deal to the arrival of the railways The Paris-Lille line passing through Creil was opened in 1843, it is one of nine lines serving the capital to the rest of France.

The project was initially designed to run through the town of Beauvais, but the industrialisation of the Creillois basin was so promising in the mid-19^th century, that the project was reworked with Creil as the priority. and not Beauvais. The Tramway project

In 1900, serious consideration was given to developing a tramway line from Creil.as in Nantes, Bordeaux and Paris. The aim of the project was to link the towns of Creil, Nogent-sur-Oise and Montataire, in order to make it easier for workers in these communities to travel between the various factories in the area.

The project was shelved in 1902, however, as it would have required the tramway lines to cross the railway line.. The Compagnie du Nord considered this point too complex and dangerous.

The Y bridge
