From the 21 sept. 2024

Add to my Google Calendar

The mission of the Musée de la dentelle is to preserve the history of Chantilly black lace through collections dating back to the 19th century, and to preserve the memory of this technique. At the same time, it aims to act as a link between past and present by regularly exhibiting designers who use, sublimate or play with lace, and contemporary artists whose work resonates with this know-how. For the Heritage Days, come and discover the museum's permanent collections, as well as its new temporary exhibition.
The museum is open on Saturday 21 September from 2pm to 6pm and on Sunday 22 September from 10am to 6pm.

Exhibition of the new acquisition by the Friends of the Museum
Last spring, the Friends of the Lace Museum acquired an exceptional Chantilly lace train skirt at the Hôtel Drouot auction house in Paris. This top skirt, with a long train, for a ball gown, in grenadine silk, is a truly exceptional piece. The rich floral and ombré motifs indicate that this skirt was made in a very large workshop, such as the Lefébure factory in Bayeux, either for a very high-ranking aristocratic family or as a centrepiece for a world exhibition. Dating from 1880-1890, it illustrates the enduring importance of Chantilly lace in fashion after the Second Empire. Come and admire it at the museum during the Heritage Days!
Visits on Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 September during museum opening hours.

Fifi Chachnil, the thread of history" temporary exhibition
The Musée de la dentelle in Chantilly is hosting a retrospective on the forty-year whimsical career of Fifi Chachnil, stylist, lingerie designer and singer...
The exhibition "Le fil de l'histoire" highlights the colourful life and work of Fifi Chachnil, who has been adding salt and wit to the finery and lingerie of her contemporaries for four decades. Lingerie pieces, photographs, costumes, videos, music videos... Nearly sixty works make up the corpus of this exhibition devoted to this "tralalas merchant" whose mischievous bras and silk knickers allow women to play in a joyful and uninhibited way, with a femininity that has the intelligence of its lightness.
Organised into three universes, the exhibition begins in a room devoted to stripping, illustrated by photographs by Ellen von Unwerth. Lace, nighties and pin-up frills are revealed in a second room, accompanied by photographs by Charles Petit, while a third space presents costumes and lighting effects created by Fifi Chachnil for clips and photographs by the artists Pierre et Gilles.
A story sewn with fantasy.
Exhibition produced in partnership with Galerie Templon (Paris - Brussels - New York) and Scène nationale 61.
The exhibition opening will take place on Saturday 21 September at 2.30pm.
Catalogue "Fifi Chachnil, le fil de l'histoire", Fifi Chachnil (book editor), Fabienne Reybaud (texts) and Marc Bruckert (artistic director). 200 pages retracing 40 years of creation, encounters and femininity, on sale for 18 euros at the museum.

Fifi "Love" concert
To celebrate the opening of the exhibition and the 40th anniversary of her brand with music, Fifi Chachnil is performing her album and a number of her own songs.
recoveries.
Her ballads express a thirst for lightness, a charming frivolity, the pillars of Fifi's universe. "Yes, I know I'm a bit squirrelly", she sings. Delicate but mischievous, the singer-songwriter transforms an "ordinary day" into an everyday extravaganza. As if to remind us that "pleasure is a serious thing". And that love permeates every note of life...
With Fifi Chachnil and Roger Pouly on piano.
