Reading time: 3 minutes
The Saint-Nicolas abbatiale church, located in Saint-Leu-d'Esserent, only 10 minutes from the Castle of Chantilly and 15 minutes from Senlis Cathedral and Royaumont Abbey, is an amazing and impressive monument, a symbol of the transition period between Romanesque and Gothic architecture. It can be visited in groups by appointment, accompanied by a guide and can be completed by the discovery of the medieval quarter, the Cave Banvin and the La Guesdière Museum.
Its imposing silhouette catches your eye as soon as you arrive in Saint-Leu-d'Esserent This abbey church, which is not an abbey, is a Cluniac site and a beautiful architectural testimony of the transition from Romanesque to Gothic art.
Your guide will tell you all about it and if time permits, they will also take you to the Banvin Cellar This is a beautiful 12th century building where the monks of the Cluny Order stored and sold their wine.
